We are looking at a possible snow storm to bring much needed inches. We have seen a lot of wind and warm temperatures today. The change in weather will be a welcomed changed. We are not quite ready for winter to end but spring in the San Juan’s is spectacular.
In yesterday’s New York Times (3/19/09) an article was written about Joshua Butson (owner/lead guide) for the San Juan Outdoor School (SJOS)/Telluride Alpinism testing out some mountaineering ice axes for the paper. Joshua Butson and some of the other SJOS guides; Jon Miller, Jeff Shannon, Ben Clark along with Erik Dalton, owner of Jagged Edge gear shop in Telluride helped out in the testing of these ice axes. Testing of these axes was quite a bit of fun for the guys. Some of the areas they took the axes with them were the Ophir to Telluride ski tour, Skiing Sheep Shoot, Skiing Sun Shine just to name a few, they were also given to advanced clients for technical assents in order to get a different perspective. Please enjoy these great photos.
Well we are getting ready to start our 8th grade Avi class were we go into the school for a one of a kind course for the telluride school district.
It has been a great winter and the snow and ice is starting to melt with all the warm weather. Yesterday Josh and Jon Miller both of our primier guides whent to check out the Ames ice Hose and the ice was very soft.
